Hi Everyone! I have been using wikis and blogs since being inspired at the first High School's New Face Conference in 2006. In my work supporting districts and providing professional learning opportunities, I have created blogs in order to continue the learning beyond the one or two days we are together face-to-face.
Writing Frameworks is my blog for writing. I have recently published my 100th post and redesigned the look and focus of this blog. My hope is to share my experiences in teaching writing, as well as my own frustrations as a writer. Please feel free to join in!!
I also maintain a companion wiki for Writing Frameworks where we can share documents that we have created to help districts in teaching writing. Organized around the Six Traits of writing, it also includes many materials from the Step Up to Writing Program. I actively encourage teachers to share their work and participate in the discussion pages - but we aren't a real robust group yet!
Grand Rounds is a blog that I co-author with a colleague in order to share our professional learnings. We named the blog "Grand Rounds" after the practice in the medical community of "presenting" cases and then getting feedback from colleagues. This "blog in two voices" is an ideal way to begin blogging if you are a bit hesitant about finding an audience.
Finally, I as learn more about using technology tools and share them with teachers, I have created a wiki to use in trainings. Please feel free to visit this site (it is updated often) and to give me feedback in the comments section at any time!!
